HIGHCLERE CASTLE GIN

OUR STORYTHE GINCHARITY

Since 1679

Our family has lived at Highclere Castle since 1679, when gin first came to England’s shores. Today, Highclere Castle Gin is inspired by botanicals hand chosen from the castle’s herb gardens, originally planted in the ninth century by the Bishops of Winchester. With a delicate balance of juniper, lime flower, orange peel and a touch of lavender, it is the true essence of Highclere’s ancient estate. Enjoy traditionally with tonic water or as a base for your favorite cocktail.

About Highclere Castle Gin

Highclere Castle Gin was launched in 2019 with a mission to produce the finest gin in the world. Our super-premium gin was crafted to celebrate Highclere’s reputation for entertaining to the highest standards through the centuries. Still today, Highclere plays host to many of the world’s foremost statesmen, scientists, celebrities and artists where the evening always begins with gin cocktails dating back to the 1920’s.

Tradition

Highclere Castle Gin is the liquification of Highclere’s commitment to agriculture and to honor its uniquely British traditions. The botanicals used in the gin are harvested from Highclere Castle’s ancient estate. The gin recipe was crafted over the course of four years by spirits entrepreneur Adam von Gootkin together with the 8th Earl and Countess of Carnarvon, the owners and stewards of Highclere Castle. This very special partnership makes Highclere Castle Gin a uniquely Anglo-American product merging British pedigree and style with American innovation and drive for perfection.

The Botanicals

Experience history with Highclere Castle Gin botanicals. Crafted with 10 botanicals sourced from Highclere Castle’s ancient estate. This unique gin features tasting notes of citrus along with lavender grown in the monks’ garden planted in the 9th century by the Bishop of Winchester. The acclaimed estate Highclere oats are woven into the recipe, creating a gin of unparallel complexity and flavor. Records from the 13th century testify that oats have been grown at Highclere and today remain a key element of the landscape for food, to add to our gin and as part of conservation and diversity.

The Distillery

Distilled above an ancient underground water source, Highclere Castle Gin is produced at Langley Distillery; England’s oldest gin distillery in one of the oldest working copper gin stills dating back to the 1800’s.

The resulting high proof gin is blended with water to precisely 43.5% alcohol. We discovered this exact proof lent itself to the maximum expression and dimension of flavour.

Queen’s Commonwealth Trust

Highclere Castle Gin has selected the Queen’s Commonwealth Trust (QCT) as our official charity partner. Highclere Castle Gin will work in partnership with QCT to support young leaders and to help further their positive impact around the Commonwealth.

QCT was selected due to their outstanding operations throughout the global family of Commonwealth nations, home to 2.4 billion people of which 60% are under the age of 30.

Highclere Castle Gin is proud to be a sponsor and promoter of such a positive vision manifested by QCT’s Patron, Her Late Majesty The Queen.

About The Queen’s
Commonwealth Trust

“We sometimes think the world’s problems are so big that we can do little to help. On our own, we cannot end wars or wipe out injustice, but the cumulative impact of thousands of small acts of goodness can be bigger than we imagine.” -Her Late Majesty The Queen, our Patron

The Queen’s Commonwealth Trust (QCT) launched on April 21st, 2018, in recognition of Her Late Majesty The Queen’s lifetime of service to others and her love for the Commonwealth and its young people. The Commonwealth is a global family of 56 countries, home to 2.4 billion people, of which 60% are under the age of 30.

We put young Commonwealth leaders at the centre of everything we do, and provide their organisations with flexible funding, practical tools and support, and a vibrant network to help them transform their communities, across the areas of agriculture & food, education & employability, environment, health, and inclusion.

Less than 0.1% of international aid goes to leaders like them, the ones most affected by the challenges and with solutions that work. Their collective potential is enormous. With your support, we can unlock it.

Together, we are #TeamQCT.
